The Arkansas Derby - 2026

THE PROBLEM

The Arkansas Derby attracts racing enthusiasts, casual attendees, tourists, and local guests alike.
The identity needed to:

  • Celebrate America's 250th anniversary.

  • Honor the history and prestige of the iconic Arkansas Derby.

  • Appeal to both traditional racing audiences and newer guests.

  • Function across print, digital, environmental, and merchandise applications.

  • Create a cohesive visual experience throughout the property and campaign.

The challenge was balancing patriotic themes while maintaining the elevated feel and excitement expected from a Grade 1 racing event.

THE SOLUTION

The final identity combines classic Americana influences with modern typography and bold graphic elements. Red, white, and blue color relationships celebrate the nation's milestone while supporting Oaklawn's existing visual language.

The identity system was designed to be flexible across numerous touch-points.

THE RESULTS

The 2026 Arkansas Derby identity was implemented throughout Oaklawn's marketing efforts and event experience, helping support one of the property's most significant annual events.

Leading to the an attendance of over 73,000 guests. Exceeding the total population of Hot Springs and becoming the biggest turnout Oaklawn has ever seen!
