SAFE SPACE THERAPEUTIC SERVICES
OVERVIEW
Safe Space Therapeutic Services is a counseling and mental health practice dedicated to providing compassionate, supportive care for individuals navigating life's challenges. The goal of the project was to develop a visual identity that reflected the practice's commitment to emotional safety, personal growth, and healing while creating an approachable and professional presence.
In addition to those goals, the brand also needed to clearly communicate that Safe Space Therapeutic Services is an inclusive practice where people from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences would feel comfortable seeking care. This was especially important given the practice’s location in the southern United States, where the visual identity needed to signal safety, acceptance, and affirmation from the very first impression
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
The visual identity combines two meaningful symbols: the butterfly and the safety pin.
The butterfly represents transformation, growth, and personal change - concepts often associated with the therapeutic process. The safety pin symbolizes protection, security, and support, reinforcing the practice's mission to provide a safe environment for healing.
Together, these symbols also help communicate the practice’s inclusive values. The butterfly suggests openness, freedom, and transformation, while the safety pin adds a sense of protection and solidarity. By integrating these elements into a unified mark, the identity communicates both the journey of healing and the importance of creating a space where every client, including LGBTQ+ individuals, feels welcomed and affirmed.
